I have a 94 F150 with a 5.0 4wd extended cab? Can anyone tell me why the tps sensor keeps going bad? I have put 3 in in a year so far? Only codes are EGR valve and excessive torque converter slip. Tranny does slam intermittently? Any help greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks in advance!!
I would be inclined to test the TPS. I would ohm it out first. Then check voltage for closed and then watch for voltage spikes or dips from closed/stopped voltage to full WOT.
And because the TPS is so very important to electronic transmission, I only use OEM, Motorcraft. Same would hold true for Dodge, GM and so forth. Its usually not worth my time to justify a few dollars saved if I cant rule out that being part of the problem.
Aftermarket TPS sensors tend to have very poor quality control. But before throwing in the towel it would be advisable to check it yourself with a meter.
