I recently bought a 94 f150 with 302 and dual tanks. In the paper work that came with the truck I noticed a shop removed the front tank and flushed it along with new fuel pump and filter due to sitting for an extended period of time. I was told the rear tank does not work so I have not flipped the switch. I'm sure the rear tank is in the same condition as the front was and I'd like to make it functional again. Anything out of the ordinary I need to be aware of before proceeding?
Just be careful removing locking rings and wash it out good, you may have to special order a float for it depending on how much the fuel corroded it.
Thanks. I plan on replacing the pump, will the new pump come with a new float? Is there a preferred replacement pump, or just standard auto parts store replacement?
The pump wont come with a float, look for a bosch pump for top quality, carter and airtex are decent. Your truck should have a new style float that probably wont be bad but the only place I found the old style was summit.
