tranny squealing when shifting gears
I'm only a couple months away from my warranty expiring and am getting concerned about some tranny noises. In most cases the noise occurs while trailering my boat or if I have a large load in the cargo area. The automatic transmission is squeaking during the gear changes. Only squeaks for about a second. It will rarely do this without a load unless I'm in passing gear and over 5000rpms. My concern is that when I take it into the dealer's service dept I'll likely get a "road test vehicle, could not duplicate" on the work order. Can anyone help me as to what's occuring so it seems like I know what I'm talking about in front of the service manager? Does a filter and fluid flush solve my problem or should more be done? I have a V10 Excursion with 4.10 gearing if that makes any differece. TIA

Well at the minimum get it documented at the dealer. Have you checked the fluid level..? Take it to a good tranny shop and ask em what the noise is they could probably tell you or have an idea..

Are you sure it's the transmission and not the serpentine belt? I've heard of some belt slippage right after a shift that many thought was a transmission noise. A new belt &/or idler pulley eliminated the noise.
Regardless, you should definitely take the truck in and have the problem documented... just in case it is something bad.

I'm sure it's not the serpentine belt, however the sound is similar, yet more subdued and muffled. It's the transmission screeching during hard shifts. I believe there are belts inside the transmission and perhaps that's what is making the noise. It happens during the shift up to the next gear. Fluid level is OK.
