Lightbulb NOT another milage thread

My signature truck is on second year and about 34,000 miles. I started on the "other" site and was drug over here by NoMo.

When the truck was new, everybody told me the overhead fuel MPG gage was bogus, not accurate and is just a doodad. My initial manual calculations did suggest that there was a .2 to .35 error from what the doodad indicated to what my actual math came out to. Not much error but it WAS there.

For the last year I had stopped punching overhead reset at fillups and so the overhead computer has been running for around 10,000 miles. Yesterday I was bored so I went through my records and found the milage and fuel slip that related to the last reset.

I did the math several times and come up with Average 14.643mpg over last 9833 miles.

The overhead is saying 14.7 that seems close enough to me.

Any similar experiance?

Yeah NoMO is at fault for me being here too. You gotta watch that guy

My overhead is about .3- .5 mpg off. Sometimes it's a little better.

Your ACTUAL mileage has been very good Fredvon.

I figure it is a little better than average cuz I have many months of just back an forth to work, about 85%, it is all hwy and I started running at a reasonable 65-70 every day instead of the funner (but fuel eating) 75-80

I'm mildly supprised at lack of comment on this, considering all the energy spent discussing MPG over the years...
