Radiator burst through plastic

I changed my transmission fluid took it for a drive a noticed it was reving up a little high. 3000 RPMs and I was only going 25. Before the fluid change I didn't have this problem. So I brought it home to check the fluid level again as I was checking antifreeze shot out through the plastic leaving a 6 inch size crack next to the lower transmission line. I did buy a new radiator, cap and thermostat but I'm a little reluctant to drive it again without knowing any idea of what caused any of this.
