I just bought a 1997 and it doesn't have they keyless entry. My 1994.5 has it but id rather have it in my 97. Can I pull the module out of my old pickup and put it into my new one? or is it more complicated then that?
2. Momentarily jump pins in the programming connector located under the dash near the base of the steering column. This is a gray two-pin connector taped to the wire assembly connected to the remote entry receiver module, approximately 6 inches from the remote entry receiver module. All doors will lock then unlock to confirm programming mode. Remove whatever you used to jump the two pins together.

To the OP, I don't know if you are still interested in this or not, but if your truck had the factory RKE then the module (& wiring harness) will be under the dash behind the pocket in the lower dash panel under the steering wheel.
I have been researching this because I am interested in adding the keyless entry buttons on the door.
There is a guide at powerstroke.org that shows how to add Ford RKE and keyless entry to a truck that didn't come with it.
Hmm, I wonder if you could grab one off an explorer. I know those came with key pads pretty early on.
Yes. I think it said up to 2000 model year. You will need the wire harness and solder some pin ends to the wires to plug into the RKE module.
My local pick-n-pull had 3 OBS trucks that still had the RKE modules in them. They were all gassers. They had several Explorers with the keyless pad on the doors. And yet I still can't find a good set of seats.
On the other site that I put a link to, I did it on my phone so you will have to copy and paste the address to use it, there is a guide to put the keypad in the OBS. He has a pic of it. Looks like one guy put one on both sides front doors.
Once you get used to the door buttons, it is hard to not have them.
