Don't know if it's what you are looking for, but my shop manual has quite a bit of info on engine disassembly, repair, and reassembly. I might be assuming too much, but I'm planning on using it as the main source of info when I do my 272 Y-block.
The Edsel and Motors manuals I have that cove the 223 I6, assume an expert mechanic is reading. They make major leaps from step to step and have few photos, pictures or diagrams.
I am trying to rebuild the 223 I6 in my Edsel, but it is the same engine found in 1959 Ford Trucks. I agree with your signature statement, When does the fun start? Rebuilding this engine (and the car) were supposed to be a peaceful hobby! So far I am still waiting for the fun.
Yep, the truck shop manuals do skip around alot too. You might want to try searching for a inline 6 book or specialty manual on ebay for engines. Goodluck with your edsel!! -4speed P.S Amazon.com too
It's been awhile since I've visited the site but here I am. I was reading your post. I bought a manual for my 58 on cd from detroit iron. It helped me out alot. It has the procedures for rebuliding the 223. I had alot of fun doin mine till i put the cam in before the lifters(bad ju-ju.) if ya llike e-mail me.
But my question is still unanswered. I would rather not purchase several manuals before finding the right one. Can someone suggest the best manual for rebuilding the 1959 223 I6 engine?
