I would add to the above lists for "advanced" and ocd pickers:
Core supports with the extra tall radiator mouning flanges. (Stronger and useful for mounting electric fan brackets etc. )
Early center dash braces from center bottom dash to firewall. (Deleted on later years and makes dash sturdier)
Early metal taillight assemblies. (Identified by four screws)
Early metal a/c control body. (Later are all plastic but are interchangeable)
Core support to fender braces. (Deleted on later trucks)
Slick 60's metal covers for early dents with the large oval firewall rubber grommets)
Crew cab roof skins and drip rail. ( some people badly need those)
Stainless windshield trim. (Found on bumpsides and dentsides but interchangable.)
Wiper arms with TWO rivets (has a fancy spring cover when viewed from inside cab and is usually found on bumpsides but is interchangable).
Early dentside door hinges have a bit more gusset to them and are stronger.
Early accelerator pedal assembly with metal bracket (later are plastic).
Accelerator pedal return spring. (Right behind/on pedal, keeps pedal from flopping around. Bumps and dentsides).
Early radio and a/c mounting bracket for stock radio (later ones are not as beefy)
Stainless gas pedal, brake pedal and e-brake trim and chrome metal e brake handle. (found on bumpsides, dentsides and some cars but is interchangable).
Bumpside tunnel cover/ trans access panels -with no holes- to do trans swaps or 4wd swaps Or deletes.
Supercab floor pan sections to repair 78-79 bronco floor pans (they are the same back to the rear of the seats. Don't think regular cab is the same, it's not)
Super cab center oem exhaust hanger bracket. ( great for installing outboard of frame for fenderwell exit hedders)
Early metal steering column trim panel to dash. (Replace the plastic ones, but will leave you re routing wires.)
Anyone think a picture thread would be a good idea? I have all of this stuff loose.

kc junkyard
I am at the point with my local JY that I can tell folks what row and what truck to go get what part from....There are/were about 39 73-79's at last count.
But parts are becoming more and more scarce these days. I have a location of another JY up by KC that is suppose to be pretty good old Ford truck wise...another road trip some day?

Mustangking take out either side hinge mount 2 bolts, then pop off the other side. It does not have a get in the right angle and pop off cut notch like newer rucks.
fordman I know of one closer to you...its in Centerview Mo area. I have not been there myself/yet, but it is a fellow FTE members spot to parts shop.
Working on the name and # for you.
58 hwy -e- past Kingsville then Holden. 58 hwy jogs to the -n- take division road to the -e- probably a mile or so down there on the -n- side of the road. Can't miss all of the cars out front. Hope he still has lots of those trucks. He was scrapping stuff last time over there.
Ford man PM me if you go, I can drive the 2hrs there and we can hit it together?

HI Guys, I am looking for the latch and cover for a 78-79 supercab rear fold up seat.
I am doing a ground up on mine and being in Australia nobody parts out any supercabs as Ford only started bring them in around 1999-2000. Last one I bought, the guy stitched me up by sending me a 1986 one. Maybe the latch is the same but the cover is not so I thought I would ask you guys. Don't be shy as I will buy it and pay the shipping. Thank Frank

Nothing but rotting hulks (if any ) around here. Most get scrapped if they're more than ten years old.
Went to St. James auto & truck parts off Rt 66 - was advertised as the 'Biggest yard in Missouri".....Silly me. - (14656 Country Rd, 3610 St. James, MO.) -a few years ago...."over 25 acres of car & truck parts." Ha! Nothing older than 2000. (Show envy here for you guys with easy pickins). Hahahaha

I went to my favorite JY the other day and was very disappointed. It used to be independently owned but was recently sold out to LKQ a chain outfit. When it was independent, there were a lot of Dents in there and I could usually score some good parts. No longer, they had one......... and it was pretty well junk. I did manage to get a good heater control and cables out of it along with an uncut radio support. But I'm afraid my good days of Dent picking are over. Going to have to start buying complete trucks on my own and parting them out. Since what I know are Dents, OBS's and now getting back into Rangers, I guess I will start watching around for all 3 and start my own damn Ford JY LOL

'Just an observation in my area that the numbers of Bumps and Dents in the corporate yards are starting to dwindle.
Pick 'em while you can.
..... my latest finds included a decent Dent rear contour bumper, a hydroboost setup off an AWD Astro, and a serviceable 73-77 grill shell with 76/77 inserts.

Yeah HIO......I agree and there are NO independents left in my town anymore. I think there are some left within 100 miles so I guess from now on when I decide to go "shopping" its going to involve some windshield time. Guess I might as well take the car trailer and start watching for complete trucks when I go. There are still quite a few sitting around in pastures and farm yards here.........Like I said........start my own yard.....
