I'll probably stick with 7.5 sounds like good advice. I did pull the cover off of mine B2 rear there was visable wear on the small spider, the ring and pinion gear good and clean. I was considering just getting new spiders, but I'm not sure if it's just the spiders or the clutches or the shimes. For some reason the axel spiders are not meshing with smaller spiders, the axels can out 3/16.
I think i have read that ranger axles are a little narrower than the BII and that relocating the spring perches would have to be done also , the explorer 8.8 axles are a little bit wider than the 7.7 BII , BII's also came with different front axle's ,83 to 89 where Dana 28 and the 90 was the heavier Dana 35 , The Dana 35 is also just a bit wider .
Just a few things to consider if swapping out your rear axle.
Thanks for the info. I had a ranger rear to buy that failed, guess i'll keep looking. I tried to pull the carrier out my rear w/limited slip the big pin only comes out half way, can't see why it won't come out. That S clip is in the way. Has anyone had that problem? Anyone have a trick to getting that out?

Joe32, where are you located? I'm putting an explorer 8.8 in my 89 BII next week and I'll have a complete 7.5 with 3.73's that I won't need.
