Ok, so I just drove from Pgh, PA to San Antonio, TX..... truck ran great, and before i left i replaced the steering box, tie rod ends, shocks, added dual steering stabilizers, and did a tranny flush as well as oil change.
Here are the issues that I cant figure out, anytime i turn the wheel, there is a squealing, it is NOT the power steering, when we did all the upgrades we re-greased the ball joints and temporarily stopped the squealing. So should I just replace the ball joints, and if so, should I replace anything else while I'm doing that?
The next issue is when i drive, sometimes when I accelerate slightly it sounds like something is going wrong with the engine, like a vibration or humming, maybe a slight tapping, i cant seem to figure it out. no engine lights come on or anything, but it scares me and I need this vehicle for a while so I need to make sure i keep up on the maintenance.
IF you need to do the ball joints you should replace any front linkage that needs it . The front end will be fully apart at that time. Check the sealed bearings BEFORE you take the tires off.
Is the squeal the same as before ?? Squeals only while driving ?? Are the B/Js wore out R just making noise ??
You need real assessments not internet guess work.. IMHO
They were greased once, I was told they weren't worn out. But less than 2000 miles later they're squealing again. I can't imagine ball joints need greased that often.
If it worked once I'd do it again & see what happens. Only a 5Min effort. I wish I could give you the name or location of a good shop BUT I don't know SA & stay away as much as possible.
San antonio is a bit bigger n busier than expected. I love it here though. Within the year I'd like to move further to the country. But I'll try regreasing them again. Thank you.
But does anyone have the same issue with the acceleration?

Hard to say listening on the net Bad tank?? Pinging ?? rattle underneath ?? sealed bearing ?? exhaust rattles ?? One of mine (with CAI open filter will make you go deft at 45 MPH with the most unpleasant DRONE/WINE you have ever heard

Seeing as how noises are hard to describe properly, a video or audio clip of it may be helpful here. Just record one and upload to YouTube then link it here. You mentioned it's occasional and when you accelerate slightly. Could you be a bit more descriptive? From a stop, when already rolling and increasing speed a few MPH, your definition of slight acceleration (gentle roll on, etc) and so on.
Help with noise identification and troubleshooting can be extraordinarily frustrating to deal with, you have my sympathies. I had a metallic rattle that I could find to save my life and ended up having a friend run orbits in his car around my truck while driving on a backroad. Ended up being the right rear wheel center cap had lost its tight fit and would rattle between 35 and 40mph. Sometimes you gotta get creative with troubleshooting, lol.
