I fill up when it gets closer to empty so that I can get the 4600-5K miles out of the tank.
I also think it may help the sensors to read without errors. I have no idea if that is true or not. But I know that mine does not get confused or anything.
Mostly it is the miles between fillups that I am after.
I check the display every so often. when I notice the below 1/2 message, I dump 2.5 gallons in. Never have had a problem either. No need to let it run down lower than that, although it doesnt hurt.
Reading threads like this reminds me that there are people out there that are just plain malicious, and will do bad things to others property just because thiey can.... So, with that........
I dont really like the appearance of it, but, I figure it is better than nothing!

I'm gonna try to build a remote controlled latch.. gotta look at the space on both sides of the door opening, see what I can make fit. Epoxy the latch to the back of the door. I don't want another key.. don't go in the normal filler door much now that I have the aux tank. Only for DEF.

Good idea. I had a 2005 Lincoln Town Car that had afuel door release in the driver side door, and no outside release. I dont know why Big Blue Oval doesnt do this with the rest of their line!

Same reason the tailgate doesn't lock/unlock with the doors......
There's a billet tank door with lock I found on Amazon I might get. Spendy and a little flashy for y taste but prob worth it.

I'd like to see what the inside looks like, if you get a chance...
I purchased locks like that for the 5th wheel. More secure with round keys........
This could work for Jolly Green..........
Yep..I hear you on the round key! Will probly be going in to Henderson tomorrow and look for a better lock at Lowes while I am there. This one was just one I had laying around doing nothing.
I was more curious how you rigged the latch/clip that the lock tang slides into.

If anyone wants in that bad they'll just rip the door loose, IMO.
and of course then you should probably get the fuel cap lock too.

If you don't like the bling of a chrome locking door, they make it in powder coated black. For me not so bad as y truck is tuxedo black. But others may want to get it painted to match. Cheaper than the DEF lock alone at JEGs. ($57.99 free shipping, except to me in Alaska...) Don't have any experience with any of these products... Just things I was looking at.
When diesel prices started skyrocketing in my 02 F350 diesel I did the same as the pictures. Mounted the lock threw the door, and the cut a slit for the arm to go into at the inner wall. Not pretty but effective. I am not a real chrome guy on the 02 bush guard, and any thing add on the outside of the truck flat black.
With the new truck, it came with a lot of chrome so everything is chrome when it comes to add on items. So I put the chrome billet locking door. The only advantage to the locking door is that if someone breaks the door to get at your diesel or DEF tanks you have evidence of entry.
Speaking of insurance, I have an appointment with the adjuster to see if the are going to pay the claim for vandalism on the truck from the diesel in the DEF tank.
