Happy Ford kind of day, all! I hope that I get this right and the pics I have attached come through. (Should be 2 pics, one of the front side and one of the back side showing the tabs.) I am looking for a stainless steel trim piece identical to the one pictured except for the passenger side. This piece is stainless as opposed to the plastic with chrome tape. I have plenty of the plastic with tape but the tape is peeling. These must be rare as I have yet to find one. I'm hoping that someone out there has one or knows where I can get one. I've looked everywhere I know to look and am running out of options. If anyone can help, I would sincerely appreciate it. email is papazig47@hotmail.com
Thanks a ton. Lyle
P.S. If anyone needs any of the simulated wood grain vinyl inserts, I have 3 or 4 sets of those I'd be willing to part with if it would help anyone.
I'm with Rich on this one!! I have had probably 25-30 dentsides and NEVER seen a stainless trim with fake wood grain panels, ever!! I'm just guessing here but maybe someone pulled them off of the "Lariat" door trim panel since that's what is on mine--stainless trim ring? All the XLT door panels have the chrome tape on them!!
Also, with the tabs on the back side of them, there definitely not for the wood grain inserts panels! Those are exactly like the one's for my Lariat.
You think wood grain is hard to locate, try finding a good set of any of these.
Like Scott said I have never seen the stainless steel trim with the wood grain inlay track/groove. Good luck finding some, have you posted a WTB add in that section?
Found a set of the bottom ones a few weeks ago. Have them in my storage trailer waiting to be cleaned.
If they are the stainless, I would be interested. Lot easier to inlay some wood grain than to replace chrome tape on plastic trim. I can be reached at papazig47@hotmail.com
Thanks, Lyle

I'm sure you are more familiar with these than I. When I bought the truck, the wood grain inserts were on the door panels. The passenger side was missing the trim ring I'm looking for. Below the door panel the door had four holes in it. Behind the seat, I found two "pockets" with elastic across the top. They had nylon retainers on the back that corresponded with the four holes on the door. I have put them back on the doors so I now have storage "pockets" on each door. The panels and the "pockets" were blue to match the door color so I assume these were correct for the truck. Thanks to everyone for all the comments and offers to help. Lyle

I bought a set of the stainless trim last month, thinking I would replace peeling trim on my XLT door panel inserts. They aren't a solution to that problem. The pleated door inserts (on my '77, at least) use a heat-bonded vinyl trim with a chrome Mylar finish, these do not come off. Also, the stainless trim designed for the plain plastic door panels will not cover up where the vinyl trim was, because they were designed to go at the very edge of that opening. The vinyl trim sits inward about a 1/4 of an inch all the way around. The only way these stainless moldings work for the pleated XLT panels would be to make fresh sewn pleated ones, instead of OEM heat-seamed panels.
