Agreed. I have a rubber mat over my OEM spray in. I even cut out the holes for my 5ver hitch so the rubber mat doesn't have to come out for that anymore. As to the quality of the OEM spray in, mine is pretty easily chipped. It also has a strange issue where it is rusting. I posted on it a long time ago here. Everyone insisted I left something metal on the liner that stained it with rust but I never did any such thing. It's almost like rust power is coming up through the spray liner. I know, impossible. You'd think I was saying I have Jesus' profile on my french toast. But I'm telling you, it's there...

Mine also have a rust look over the top. Just in one area though.
Have the truck in to the dealer they are supposed to be fixing it even as I type. Will post the final outcome. I still think that if the problem is a Ford problem that they should give you a set of wheels for transportation.
