Curious if there was a rev limiter on the 2009 3v V-10. On 2 occasions in the last couple of years while towing my 9k lb TT I hit the gas pretty hard and was revving about 5k+ RPM and the tranny light flashed. I let off the gas and it downshifted and light never came back on. This is the only time the light has flashed and both tines I was towing and got the revs up to 5k+. It has never flashed other than these 2 occasions. If it has rev limiter is that what caused the tranny light to flash(blink)? I assume if it was it was just a warning and I was not doing harm. tks
Every vehicle made anytime recently has a rev limiter. The flashing light was not a rev warning. It should redline somewhere between 5500-6K.
Thanks but I wonder what would cause the engine/tranny symbol to blink. It is the symbol that looks like an engine. Trans temp nor engine temps were hot. Just high revving and pulling 9k lbs. Again, this symbol has only blinked these 2 times under the same conditions and never any other time. tks
usually, when the engine light flashes it is to tell you that a misfire has been detected.
with a v10, it has to be pretty bad for the PCM to pick it up.
regardless of the cause, a "pending" code should have been stored in the PCM and you should get it scanned to find out what codes are there. these codes will probably give you a starting point to get it fixed.
