Did the '53 V8 have a one piece, full bellhousing when used in the trucks? As opposed to the two piece 3" bell on the engine and half bell on the transmission. If so, was the T9 spur gear 4-speed ever installed on that bellhousing?
Mark
The '47-'52 T9 and the '48-'52 T98 transmissions are identical from the transmission case forward. The half bell on a T98 and T9 are identical with the exception of the hole for the bearing retainer. The flange on the T98 retainer is about an 1/8" larger in diameter than the one in the T9. The input shaft on the '53-'56 T98 is longer than the earlier ones.
I was asking the original question because of the discussion we are having on the thread '51 F3 Syncro transmission. I was trying to figure out what kind of T9 Danbear was talking about that would fit the one piece bellhousing.
Thanks again, Mark
