Tune and Towing

Guys, I am sure that this has surfaced before just doing a little fact gathering.

When I get home, I am going to send my FICM to ED. Currently sending my tuner off to gearhead for a tune package.

Here is the question. How many people tow over 8K running Atlas 40 combined with an SCT Tune.

I have spoke with FICMREPAIR and although they don't disagree with the Atlas, however they do recommend the ECO tune instead.

I'm little hesitant. How can you get the same performance and sacrifice power.

I tow with the Atlas 40, 8k tow, 155's, and a Power Max. I think you will be fine with your combo I also have a few other trucks out there with stock turbo and injector combos with the Atlas 40 and 8k tow tune.

The only tune writer I use is Gear Head, so we are comparing apples to apples on my customers trucks.

That's because Matt@Gearhead prefers to tune on the ECO tune instead of the Atlas 40 as it gives him a bit more flexability.

Let me know how you like that econ tune. I tow 15K so I haven't decided yet what I want. It's all stock except all the bullet stuff and heads studs I've done.

I will. Still not entirely sure which one I am going to do. I guess I just don't understand the logic.

The information I was provided states that the ECO tune and the Atlas 40 will feel the same when I drive under normal conditions. However, there is only a 10 hp difference under load.

If that is the case why have the Atlas 40 as an option? I will have to engage with PHP to clear the FOG. I have not had much luck in contacting them.
