First thing, i am thinking about getting trac bars when i get my new motor (429 with NOS), and i want to know if its worth buying a set from summit ($40) or making a set myself (i have everything that would be needed from the metal tubing to a mig welder). The only thing i would need is some dimemsions. Second, i would like to obtain a selectable locker for my truck but i have no clue where to start. I don't want to spend a lot but i know that to get a good on i will have to pay some $$$. Should i go with ARB, or someone else(this is a street truck that will be doin some drag racin), what about spools/minispools? Are those selectable? Are there any otherr selectables out there that i could use?
Spools are not selectable and are not a good (or even reasonable) choice for any street driving. One thing to remember about an ARB is you will also need an air compressor.

Thanks for clearing that up about spools for me. And i am aware that i will need an aircompressor for the ARB(if i get this one i will build a metal container for the compressor and either mount it inside of the frame or in the box) Anyway thanks again.
you may want to get a dana 60 for your rear to handle that power. in which case you could use an ox locker with is cable controlled. but for 9" your only option is arb i'm pretty sure
I have an ARB, it's being installed now, but I like the idea of having an on-board air compressor. You can put an air tank under the truck and use power tools in a pinch. You can also inflate your tires when you're ready to hit the streets. I might get air bag helper springs too, so that'll pump them up too.
I have a 9 incher with the 31 spline axles and if do install the nitrous i will be getting/making the trac bars for sure. Believe it or not, i do have a 5 bolt (ford bolt pattern) dana 60 in a 68 (i believe) ford 1/2ton. AND i also have a posi 9 incher(2.50s or something for gears) with upper and lower control arms, but that and along with the dana is way more work then i want to do because me and my dad just rebuilt the entire rearend (brake drum to brake drum) and so i think this would easier.
MustangGT221:If i did get the arb i would do what you said with the tire inflation, air tools, and i will need helper springs if i ever plan on towing anything.
The manufacturer webpages can be found with www.google.com search and they will tell you what applications they are made for and what is coming out soon. One of those is a limited slip/locker
the other one is open/locker I forget which is which.
