My 53 F-100 has a VIN (F10D3D15801)with only eleven digits to it. The code search will only take seventeen digits. I put X s after it but it won't come up. What am i doing wrong? Is there a program that will bring up these old VIN numbers?

Ross has given you all the information that is contained in your SERIAL#,
The reason that you cannot decode this on the VIN decoders is that VIN#'s did not exist before 1954, and between 1954 and 1981 there was no standard format for them. Each manufacturer used what ever format they desired. In 1981 the 17 digit format was initiated by the US NHTSA. That is why vehicles older than 1981 cannot be 'decoded' by the vin decoders.
Thank you Ross and anyone else involved. I made copies for others I know with an F-100.
Welcome to FTE! I'm late to the party but you can also go online and put in an older vin at: VINwiz Decoder
My copy of the LMC Truck catalog also has a Chassis ID decoder for the 48 - 56 trucks.
The MidFifty, LMC, Mac's and Dennis Carpenter catalogs are great to have on hand.
You and your other F100 friends need to come on here and show us some pictures of your trucks.
Funny thing is, I just did a quick Google search and found it. I had searched for decoders before, but never found this one. I must have typed in just the right phrase...
