What do you guys do to replace the plastic water shield behind the door panels? You know, the white plastic formed piece that obviously everyone just rips to heck when they need to replace a regulator or door glass, etc. None of my doors have a good one to scavenge. I've searched for a part number even though it's doubtful there are any new ones in existence. Mine had F4TB15237A04.....rip. It says ZONE-KOTE under the engineering number. Sheet plastic and duct tape seem to be the only solution.
I use bulk Sheet plastic, I bought a roll years ago and still am only half way thru it.
When I encounter a door that needs its vapor barrier replaced I cut a piece of plastic to size, Then I clean and prep the door removing all the old glue and plastic. Then using My upholstery glue sprayed from a HVHP gun I glue where the factory had their glue at. I then wait for the glue to tack up and then place the plastic on the door. after the glue has dried, I use a heat gun to shrink the plastic so it is no longer loose a floppy.
Thats how I do it may be other ways but this has worked for the last 12 years, I end up doing this about once a month on customer cars in the shop.
Ford's original adhesive seems to be nothing more than 3M Window Weld Ribbon stretched thin. Never tried the heat gun shrink on sheet plastic. Thanks for that suggestion.
