The past few nights have been very cold for our area. Lows have been between 6 & 20. Two days below freezing for the high. My wife's 2006 Expedition has had a strange problem. After sitting all night outside the gas pedal was hard to push, it seemed frozen. After the initial push it worked normally until she got ready to come home that afternoon. It did the same thing that afternoon, hard to push initially then fine. This happened two days. Once the temps are in the 30's we didn't have the problem. Last winter we had some teen nights but this issue never arose. Aren't these "drive by wire" so there is no mechanical connection to the throttle? Could moisture in the cab cause the gas pedal to freeze? Are there some bushing I should replace?
They are drive by wire but the pedal itself is still a mechanical input device that can get gummed up. Try a squirt of wd40 at the pivot point? Its been below 20 for the last 3 days in NJ and no issues on my 03. *knocks on wood.
