The valvoline synthetic (or any other where the bottle states "meets) meets Mercon V standards but is not licensed from Ford to be called Mercon V, however it should be the same quality as merc V licensed products?
That's correct. Their website has this disclaimer:

I'm sure it wouldn't harm anything, but I would sooner use the Wal-mart brand which carries the Mercon V label. That's what I used on my last service:
So back to the original question or the info I was looking for and my understanding from the info I am gathering.

OR BETTER
I've been wondering : Which is better chevy of ford ??
If someone claims that they've never been wrong, they are WRONG...lol. I've certainly been wrong before and I'm sure I will be wrong again. I just learn from it and move on.
I'm wrong often, so it's easier for me to admit it due to the frequency of the event. . Heck I've had one wrong and and one IDK on details about something I had said earlier here on the forum in just the past two days!
I hate being wrong because it makes me feel like a jackass, I don't mind admitting that I was wrong because it helps clear the incorrect info I had blabbed.
I guess I can somewhat understand hating to admit a wrong although it seems silly to me, if you are wrong, you are wrong! Big deal, you are only human just like everyone else. If you are worried about others thinking less of you for your failing, well that is their problem, not yours!
What amazes me is when a guy goes back and eradicates his posts to remove what he said that is later found to be incorrect, and over something as unimportant as identifying a truck's color based on a picture. Maybe it stung a little extra because he qualified his comments that were incorrectly correcting a few of us based on his professional photographer's eye. I guess he really does hate to admit to being wrong. Insecure much? . https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...nd-the-ex.html
I can assure you that I DID NOT edit his post that I quoted there, you can see what he did to protect his (almost) never wrong persona.............
Stewart, sorry if this crosses some line here but this guy's antisocial antics seem to know no bounds.
And as for ATF, if it claims to meet or exceed Ford's MERCON V spec and Ford hasn't taken action to stop that claim then that juice is good enough for me!
It takes more of a man to admit he is wrong than one that tries to weasel out of everything. Nobody is going to admonish you for making an honest mistake...........just don't make too many, lol.
