Alright guys, I recently bought an '02 F150 7700 series. I have been able to find out just about everything I can about these trucks except how much they can safely haul. I am not sure if the truck has 3:73 or 4:10 gears, and whether or not it has a 4r70 or 4r100 tranny. What are the towing capacities for the different options? I saw 8,600 somewhere, but that just seems awfully low for a truck that has been significantly upgraded from a standard F150. Is there anyone out there that can help clear this up for me?
not really sure. I know the 7700 has slightly better front brakes than the regular truck, has 7 lug rims, more/stiffer springs in the rear. I am pretty sure it has the 4r100 also.
Only thing I can think of is it shares the same frame as the F150, and maybe that is too weak for much heavier towing over a standard version, but suspension upgrades allow for the heavier payload capacity?

From what I've read it also has a thicker/stiffer frame. And disc brakes in the rear as opposed to drum.
When you look at the chart, watch for note numbers 3 and 4 as they apply for a 7700 rating.
Your load rateing depends on what engine and rear, tire size etc.
Don't just look at the trailer weight but at the Gross combines rating.
Trailer weight for towing is the trucks loaded weight minus the Gross weight rating.
Box pay load is different.
Good luck.
Hi i got a 2001 7700 and we also got a 97 regular f150 and a 2003 supercrew, and the 7700 has a lot heavier rear suspension, we have pulled way more then the tow rating, on the farm have hauled 11 big round bales on a gooseneck flatdeck (it weighs about 3500-4000 itself) bales atleast 1000 each. hauls it good compared to a regular half ton.
