fuel filter removal

Have a 95 explorer sport and can't change the fuel filter. Is there a special tool needed?

Welcome to FTE!
Yes, there is a special tool. It is a kind of collar that fits over the fuel line, and disengages the fuel filter from the line. They are commonly sold as fuel line disconnect or a/c line disconnect tools.

They're at the bottom of this photo, and you can use the scissor OR collar types.

ok got something from auto zone....it doesn't seem to release the inner lock over the nub on the filter...is there a trick or something I am over looking?
