Spark Plugs

*Note, I am driving a '13 that came with the updated plugs.

Over the Holidays I went ahead and changed out the plugs on my Ecoboost.
67,973 miles on the clock.
Over the last year or so I have been getting a little bit of rough idle, mostly when cold be lately even when warm.

5 of the 6 plugs were still on the money gapped @.30.
The 6th was way out...

Replaced plugs and boots, no real need to replace the boots, but I was there and had them on hand.

The truck now idles so smooth I have a hard time telling when it is running.
Great result for me.... less than $50 spent.

Wife even noticed the difference.

I plan to go further before the next change.... unless I notice the rough idle return.

That to me sounds like low mileage for changing plugs. I've always seen 80 and 90k before changing from the factory plugs. But, I've never had a turbo charged vehicle either.

Thanks for the report, I'm wondering why only one plug gap was way out. Do you mean the gap had increased? Was the tip of the center electrode rounded off?

It looked about the same, but there was a lot of slop when I checked it with a .30 gauge.
It was the first one I pulled so I didn't look that close at it.
All the others were on the money.
There is always the possibility it was damaged when installed.
Truck has had a little rough idle or a long time... mostly when the engine was cold.

For the last few months I stated noticing it when warm.

Unk Bob

I was going to do 75k.
Just happened I had a little time and the weather was good.
75k would have been Mid February.... so, close enough.
