buying a used engine
hello i have a change to buy a used 6.0 engine which i need it has 104k miles on it however it needs a hpop icp and ipr sensor and also a turbo the guy said his lowest price is 2500 i was wondering if that is a good price or not

Sounds like it's going to need a full tear down when you get it, will be cost effective to do the work yourself. If you want it all finished, get that thing rebuilt, turbo reconditioned and plant it in your truck for some trouble free miles.
It wouldn't hurt to know how long he abused it for to have killed all those parts without replacing one

well, those 4 things are fed off oil. Could have snowballed in an oil system issue

Yeah I would try and get the engine turning over by hand but if you can't, before I spent any money on another engine I would pull the valve cover and remove each rocker arm assembly and check the rods while you're in there. Each time you remove a rocker arm assembly and inspect the rod, try to rotate the engine one full turn. Make sure that the truck is not energized removed the cables from both batteries. Just remember there's a procedure for replacing the rods and rocker arm assemblies back together!

I'm in a similar situation. Bad engine. Looking on ebay, there are tons of remans out there, but then I'd be forever worried about what kind of cheap chi-com parts they loaded it up with. I'm going to buy a used running engine, and then go through it myself.

My brother in law has one still in the truck but it's here in California.
I'm sure price is negotiable.
