1996 Inline 6 (4.9) installation question
I am about to lower a recently rebuilt 4.9 inline 6 with fuel injection. it's a 1996. Real sweet engine to work on but I'm NOT a mechanic by trade. Just want advice from those that have installed this engine if you suggest I attach the Engine Mounts first (to the Block) before I lower it in the engine compartment and slide it over the tranny spline ? OR Would it be easier to leave them off and slide the engine over the spline befroe I attach the mounts ?
I do know that I have a seriuosly difficult EGR tube that runs from the exhaust (rear) manifold to the top of the engine THRU the two part alum air intake manifolds. It's a real pain. The SHOP that last worked on this thing I do believe jacked me by cracking one of the small 7mm tube on this said EGR tube. So I was wondering if anyone absolutely knows that the TUBE goes through the Air Intake Manifold as I discribed ? Seems like it DOES NOT belong THRU the manifold ? The last (6th) cylinder had trouble before and this HOT EGR tube might screw with heating up the air Intake by this HOT EGR exhaust tube an 1/8" away from the intake. Thanks Joe
