I have been getting really intersted in pulling my truck at a fair. I will be running in the stock class to get started, but want to make some mods on my truck over the next year so she will be a real competitor next summer. Mainly, I am interested in getting my suspension set up right, and getting my final drive ratio dialed in so I am pulling in my powerband the whole way. I will be pulling a 1 ton longbox with a 400, 4.88:1 gears, locked rear, open front, np-205 and a np-435 4 speed. Thinking about getting a nice centerforce dual friction clutch...any comments on those clutches? Any better ones out there? Tire brand/size is undecided. Would like to pull about 4000-4500 RPM.
I know Shazam pulls, anyone else? Your help with my initial set-up would be greatly appreciated, as would any good links to information regarding pulling, tires, suspension, gearing, etc.
Thanks to all that write back. Be as lengthy as you want, the more you give me to read, the better!
I run the CF dual friction I installed it 3100 miles ago and no problems what so ever. I pull a camper with the bed of my truck full of wood. On occasion I've got into it for all it had with no slipping, noise or smell.
