Hi. I'm looking at buying a '76 F100. It has the 360 and not alot of rust. Would this truck have any problems towing a small (2000-3000 #) car?
It has an auto. Would this be the C6?

$300....

thanks,
Stan

The odds are very good that the trans is a C6.
How are you going to tow the car? On a trailer or a dolly. If on a trailer get the combined weight of the trailer and car. The trucks weight will be around 5500-6000 lbs. The towing rating will be approx 9000 - 10K lbs. So if you have a light trailer and are on level ground most of the time it will probably do fine.

I towed a 72 mustang and the combined weight was around 5000lbs with my F-150. I was at the upper limit of what the truck would do but it did it. I took my time and kept things under control and made it 300 miles with no problems. (Had problems with U-Haul but that's another story).

Sounds like a good deal and for occasional towing should work. If you're going to tow often you may want to look for a 250 or 350. Bigger brakes, radiator etc.

Thanks.
It's not exactly what I was looking for (F150, F250 4X4), but at that price, it's kind of hard to pass up.
I used to have a '72 Mach I. Those things are heavy!

thanks again,
Stan
