You would be amazed at how those endurance races/rides are done. It is almost like watching or participating in a 3 or 4 sport event. They spend time off the horse running / walking along side holding onto a stirrup, running/walking behind holding onto the horses tail (especially on hills), leading the horse at a walk or trot (which means you are jogging). And you have to be part vet as well. You have to keep track of your horses pulse, respirations and other health issues. There are frequent "vet checks" where a real vet checks the horse. Pulse, respirations other things are checked. Anything out of normal parameters is "sidelined" for 10 or 20 minutes. Fail after the now mandated rest period and your horse (meaning the rider too) is out and going home.

I did a 50 and a 100 at Fossil. I scouted and marked trails helping my sister put on the 50 and 75 mile Trask Mountain ride that she put on for several years. I think I'll just stick to riding 25 miles into a high mountain lake...if we ever get back into that again and I would like to, but times just aren't right for it currently.

One time at the Big Hole Battle Field in Montana they had about 150 lined up side by side in a line walking up a hill toward the new observation / museum they had built. TV crews and photographers were filming us walking up the hill. Craig Hatley and I thought that was too boring so we yelled "Charge" and went to a full run on our horses. The whole line let out war hoops and joined in the "charge". Camera crews, spectators and photogs were scattering all over hells half acre. It was great!

That sounds like a real adventure Jim. I like horses and have a healthy respect for them because they scare me. I had a friend who had a couple standard bred that he raced. I went to the track with one day and after he ran the horse around the track he asked me to walk the horse around the barns and not let it eat any grass, it didn't get the chance but it dragged and pushed me from one side of the road to the other I don't know how many times. I just couldn't control it.

Not to bad John. Got a bunch of small stuff done at the shop and installed a bunch of insulation in a ceiling I'm redoing in the main shop. A little cleaning here and there......

You get anything done today?

Yes I did, I made a simple jig that mounts to my engine hoist so I can lift the cab and put it on the frame. I have it ready for tomorrow. Cleaned the shop and shoveled the snow in front of the door so I can roll the frame in the shop without too much difficulty. Yesterday I ordered my suspension package and should have it in 3-4 weeks so things are going to have to shift to tinkering on the panel I guess.

Is your frame already prepped for the new suspension or do you have to have it blasted, etc?

Harley and I finished installing two new 12" insulated ducts with 8 speed fans to move hot air from the waste oil burner to other areas in the building. Should help a bunch...

Evening Gang, I spent the day cleaning a vintage drill press that I got from a old hot rodder that I meet last weekend. Now just need to find and mount a elec.motor on it.

I haven't done any prep to the frame yet other than pressure washing last fall. I will wire wheel and apply some POR 15 behind the boxing plates for now. Once everything is done I'll strip all the parts off and likely sandblast and spray it all with POR 15 .

Good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Raining like crazy out there. 1.25 and still climbing. The Doppler Radar looks like a total and complete monsoon over the top of me and more moving in.
