Turned out to be a decent day. A few showers but mostly dry and some sun breaks.

Good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Survived Salem, just barely, it was close and we got singed, but we did make it out the libsville house of horors with our skins still in tact.

They are just now finishing up the hearing. I was going to stay for all of it, but I got to hurting to much so came home - without even going to Costco. Got home just in time to see / hear the last few people testify on the Internet / OLIS site.


Doesn't surprise me at all. If you are around the tribes much at all you will find one of the common responses / phrases that is cited quite often is "We do not have to ****insert anything****because we are a Sovereign Nation!". I've run across it so many times I lost count 20 years ago.


The local tribe here runs just about everything through Polk or Yamhill County Circuit Court so what was described is not likely to happen. However, if for some reason they run the bad guy through the tribal court, it would be exactly like the article you posted. I can actually see it happening if they pick up a tribal member for certain charges. Would never happen for a non tribal member though.

I love the stock photo they used for all those "evil guns"............at least 2 100+ year old revolvers, a daisy 1911 replica pellet gun, and a couple of .22 rifles..........Oh, yeah, that constitutes a "ARSENAL"!

 

What do you expect for and editor that has to check with his 10 year old playing a 1st shooter game on the X-box just to learn what a gun is!!!

It just proves that it will not cover all Oregon residents. If they are a sovereign nation why are we selling them firearms?

Sorry, I forgot to mention that that sovereign nation stuff only applies when it benefits them. They had a sign up in the Med Clinic not too long ago that read something like: "Attention, make sure you have collected all Medicare, medicade, Employer Health plan, State and Federal Social Service Funds before using your Tribal health card. Councilors available if you need help"

We're at DEFCON 2 here this morning! I'm out of coffee!

I'm going to get ready for work and see if I have time to go pick some up before my wife gets up.

My son usually gets us coffee from work (Starbucks). He's allowed one pound a week. I think he's mad at us since we won't drop everything and buy him a Subaru. So... I guess I'm on my own for coffee.
