Vehicle Speed Sensor

'95 PSD A/T I recently purchased and has already had the pigtail changed at rear.

Lately, when switching fuel tanks this puppy has dropped the speed to 0 and the tranny started jumping in between gears. This just started after driving it 4K since buying and de jury rigging it some.

Since tagging it in Aug. '14 the center tail light has not worked but no problem till now. i have been driving her about 1K a month and again, just started.

Did you just change the pigtail or the VSS also. If you did, did you get a motorcraft one? Sounds like the tank selector valve is acting up. Key on and have someone switch the button while you listen under the truck for a clicking sound. Let up know.

Thanks Old Bird. I wasn't explicit, the previous owner swapped the pigtail and I thought he said NAPA, but I might be confusing that with a friend that I know used Napa. Either way I won't know until I look ref the sensor. He told me the stealership said the tranny was going. They told my buddy that same thing and $3000. later it was jumping around and the dealer said the tranny was good. A pigtail and all good now. Until I figure it out I won't switch tanks on the fly anymore. It didn't feel pretty jumping between gears at 55mph. I'll try to find the answer to those questions and report back.
