I just completed a EFI to Carb swap on my 87 302. I also have a 88 300-6 EFI. I was wondering if the injectors are different between the 302 and the 300-6. If they are and the 302's injectors have more lbs whould it be an upgrade to my 300-6? I plan on then running two straight pipes right off the duel manifold for exhaust, and some kind of high flow air filter intank (might make my own out of PVC or something) to make the engine breath a little better. If they are different what is the lbs on both? The 302 injector number is ESTE-A3B (on the side of the injector) 743D (on the top behind the wire connector)
The 4.9 uses 14# injectors and they are gray on the top. 5.0 engines use both the 14# and the 19# injetors. The 19# injector is used in the 5.0 HO engine. If you are going to use 19# injectors in the 4.9 engine you need to lower your fuel pressure to around 35 psi. There are forums in FTE in how to do this. Anyway, the 19# injectors are orange on top.
Mine are 19s, I have to lower the fuel pressure? Is this worth it? Will there be a increase in HP and Torque? Would I just run the Fuel pressure Reg. Off of the the 302?
You may see about a 15 HP increase with the 19# injectors. As far as the fuel pressure regulator from the 5.0 go to this site and it gives excellent directions on doing that. http://www.bigblocksix.com/Eddie/injectorswap/index.html.
