DTC P00BC

I recently put on my no limits intake and have started getting a check engine light for code P00BC which means P00BC - Mass or Volume Air Flow A Circuit Range/Performance - Air Flow Too Low. It comes at random times and I can not recreate it. Does not effect the driving of the truck. At first I thought it was the tunning but I got custom tunes and it happened again today. Is it possible that it just got dirty and needs to be cleaned? Any ideas? Thanks In advance.

Put the stock filter back on and see if it comes back. If not then it is your aftermarket intake and filter to blame.

The only thing that blows my mind is the intake is so large how could it be causing a code for air flow to low. If anythinh it's flowing more air.

You changed the air/fuel ratio is the only thing that comes to mind.

In the 6.4's it would throw a p2002 code with aftermarket intakes. That code indicates something wrong with the DPF. Most would clear it and then it would be fine for a long time but under high demand it would throw the code sometimes.

Like I said I have custom tunes now and they new about the intake when they made them. Might have to call the tuner.

bigger pipe, slower the air speed, even tho more volume may be possible.
the sensor measures pressure, which will be lower with a bigger pipe size

How to fix this problem

Did changing out the no limits intake fix the problem? I'm experiencing the same thing currently

Who's tuning? My truck does it also with Spartan tuning and an S&B intake. It didn't do it on my original tunes. The updated tunes started throwing the code. Talked to Jeff at Spartan and they are looking into it.

No performance loses. Just an annoying random CEL every once in awhile.

H&S mini Maxx. Mike with no limit was going to send me some mcc tuning files that were supposed to fix the problem but he got all weird on me and isn't helping much now. So I'm hoping just switching to a different intake will fix the problem??? What's the top of the line intake? S&B?? Thanks man!

Mike at No Limit and Steve at Absolute probably make the "best" intakes for the 6.7L.

I wasn't going to even put one on my truck because I run tunes that are near stock HP levels. I installed an S&B on a buddies truck and liked how it cleaned up the engine bay by removing that resonator thingy. I put one on because it was $289. They are good, but those two I mentioned above are better.

Well I'd like to keep my no limit intake if possible. If I can't get rid of the check engine light even with custom tuning I'm not sure what other options I have but to switch it out though. Any suggestions ?

Do you by chance have an upgraded intercooler pipe kit from MDP or H&S?

I have read of instances where different custom tuning can act weird with the increased airflow when the intercooler pipe is swapped and the throttle valve is removed.

I found this info on another forum. You basically have a custom tune issue. Nothing is wrong with the truck.

"Similar to the mass air flow sensor functional check diagnostics, a rationality check of the mass air flow sensor is performed each time an air mass adaption (AMA) executes which is used to detect instantaneous problems with the air path. At idle, the ratio between the mass air flow and the reference mass air flow is calculated with the EGR valve in the closed position. This ratio is compared against a threshold once AMA has been released. The release of this plausibility check occurs under strict engine operating and environmental conditions to minimize the affect of outside influences on mass air flow. The ratio has an upper and lower limit, and the monitor runs once per drive cycle. A ratio too high indicates a post - turbocharger compressor air path leak, while a ratio too low indicates an EGR valve that is no longer sealing effectively."
