A few months ago, I got the CEL and it was due to a P20E8 "Reductant pressure too low" Took the truck to the dealer and they said the pump was bad.. They installed a new pump and sent me on my way. Shortly after, My wife got the "Stop when safely possible" message, or something similar and the truck shut down on her. It turned out to be the only EGT sensor that could shut the truck down. Another trip to the dealer and we were on our way again. 1,053 miles after the new DEF pump was installed, the CEL showed up again.. Another P20E8. The dealer said it must have just been a bad pump and replaced it again.
Fast forward to this week. We were pulling our "New to us" camper home and guess what... Yep, another P20E8..
I'll be taking it to the dealer again, tomorrow morning...
Anyone else have a similar problem and possibly able to shed some light for me? This is getting old, very quickly..
I had an '11 F-350 that I went through the exact same scenario as the OP. I too, replaced the DEF pump after following the pinpoint test to the TEE for that particular code. After being frustrated with that code returning almost immediately after clearing it, I posted my situation on another forum I frequent on which only technicians have access to. Two have replied claiming to have gone through the same situation, and ending up replacing the sender to repair it successfully. I have yet to wait for the truck to return for me to try a sender. Hope this helps the OP.
On our senders is there a filter included Chan? The sprinter vans i normally deal with that is the case, and i believe the supplier is the same as well since the pumps are almost identical.
My thoughts are the filter is plugged or the pickup tube is kinked/cracked/broke.

Hi EMD_DRIVER,
I believe I reached out to you on another forum as well, but I wanted to make sure I touched base with you here as well. Any news from the dealership this morning? Let us know and I'll look into options to assist.

Any luck with this, I have the same error code but have not dropped the tank yet. Is there any way to manually test the pump or sender when they are out of the truck?
I bought a used 2011 F350 XLT around thanksgiving 2014. The CEL came in while I was test driving it and the selling dealer (small mom and pop used lot) checked the code and said it was emissions related. He offered to delete the DPF at cost but I wanted to hold off on deleting anything that is was meant to be on the truck so I bought it "as is" with the option to bring it back for a delete later at cost if I so choose. The truck drives fine and I have driven 14,000 problem free miles ... other than the CEL coming on and going off randomly. Last week, I decided to let autozone run the code and it is the P20e8 reductant pressure too low. I am wondering if anyone has replaced parts like the pump and injector themselves or does everyone take it to their dealer? My local dealer charges $90/hr and I figure I can replace the whole SCR system for the amount I'll save in labor charges alone.
I want to mention that I average 13.8 mpg on the highway (unloaded) and 14 in the city (also unloaded). I'm pretty light on the pedal most of the time so this seems low to me but I wanted to see what mileage others have been experiencing. Is this low and could it be caused by an issue with the DEF pump? 180,358 miles on the truck BTW.
Today, I needed to refill my DEF tank. After filling it and starting to drive, the engine light came on, and it's the P20E8 code. Since this happened to you about a year ago, what was the problem and solution you found? Thanks.

I ended up buying a used tank on Ebay (Complete Unit) for $200 plus shipping and swapped it over. Works great, have put about 40k Miles on it so far. I live in Canada and they wanted over $600 for the pump and heater unit alone.

Hi 2011 Ska Tatanka,
Have you mentioned the code to your local Ford Dealer? If not, I'd recommend that as a next step. What's the current mileage on your truck?
