I have an opportunity to purchase a 2001 F150 supercab 4WD. It has a 4.8L V8 with 190,000 miles. It also has a 4-6" lift and Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac 315/60-16 on aftermarket rims. There are several small dents on the sides/hood. The interior also has some minor issues such as a broken cup holder, missing vinyl on the front edge of the center armrest and no stereo. The stereo doesn't bother me much because I would probably upgrade anyway.
The rear passenger door does not open using either of the release handles. What might be the issue here? I'd assume the latch is cable accuated but is it a single cable or one for each handle?
My main question is how much would it be worth as a buyer? Any info or suggestions would be appreciated.
Here is a development...checked the speedometer/odometer against my gps and found there is about a 20-25% error. Based on the odometer error and the remaining tread on the tires, my friend is estimating the truck has no more than 165000 miles. He is very knowledgeable on trucvks so I beleive he is pretty accurate. He also thinks he knows who owned it and says it was very well cared for.
If your friend is very knowledgeable about trucks and knows some history of the one you are looking at, I think I'd be inclined to listen to his advice rather than that of strangers trying to "ballpark" a price from a picture. That and a little legwork price shopping in your local area might pay dividends. If you have specific questions about the F150 related to buying, owning and maintaining one, this forum has a wealth of information available.
Yeah, I agree. My friend says given the mileage, condition, the wheels/tires, no rust at all..he thinks the asking price of $5500 is about right if not a little low. As a matter of fact he told me if I don't buy it he'd be interested. I think I'm gonna do it. This is the generation I like the best.
Can anyone tell me what fuse the power mirrors are on? They don't work and the diagram I got says it's F12, but there are no contacts in the fuse box at F12.
