I just picked up the Firestone one. For anybody interested, it's a SCS with the extended wheel base. It doesn't look like on the box, but it sure is once you get it out and look at it.

That's a good thing. You can cut it down to any wheel base you want that way.
. Yeah, my '78 has amber turn signals and round headlights... but this Firestone truck may be a custom model with advanced touches... Firestone and Ford are intermarried families... so kinda funny when they blamed each other for Exploder rollovers... it's the tires... no, it's the high narrow design...
I want this one, apparently it is not being rereleased according to AMT's website. According to a couple of other sites, this has slotted mags in the kit for upgrading your model.... but it is worth $159... OUCH!

Firestone and Ford were at one time intermarried families... so kinda funny when they blamed each other for Exploder rollovers... it's the tires... no, it's the high narrow design.
Japanese tire maker Bridgestone purchased Firestone in 1988.
1991/94 Explorers came with D rated tires, but FoMoCo replaced them in 1985 with C rated tires, then underinflated them (against Firestones advice) to give a cushier ride.
The other problem was, the rubber that Firestone used was defective.

Just so you know. All of the editions of these models were all SCS. The original molds for the original kit was for a 73 SCS. And each edition change including of the Destroyer and Bigfoot1 monster truck all used the original body mold. They all also have the round exposed gas cap instead of the square door that Ford started using in 77.

AMT produced promo models of these trucks that were given away by Ford dealers to customers that bought new Ford trucks.
AMT also made sales awards for Ford, the trucks were painted gold, placed in walnut shadow boxes...were usually displayed in show rooms.
I have a 1965 truck sales award, it's a 1961 F100 Uni with 1965 license plates on it. No Uni's after 1963.
