I was running the power service additives in my truck with no problems.
I can't say I ever had any water in fuel problems though. I assume that's why you are talking about demulsifiers and emulsifiers?
Yeah, cant say ive had any ether., tho i've never been in my current work situation before , leaving the truck for two weeks at a time. Most additives including powerservice are demulsifiers, which i tend to run currently cut with amsoil 2stroke. I was on my local craigslist and saw an ad from a guy selling his stock of Optilube claiming he was going with an emulsifier insted; so i did some reading on it. Being that my truck sits for two weeks every month i was thinking about it too and wanted to know if anyone in the 7.3 community went that route.. I figure if any situation for drop out to occur mine could be one. Just wondering how sensitive specifically our fuel systems are to h20 particulate when suspended by an emulsifier... Hoping someone has some first hand experience.
My truck sits alot. Month or two befor i drive it. I always keep power service in it. It has been fine and runs how it should when i am ready to fire it up.
This has been the source of great debate on various diesel forums, with no declared winner but with vocal advocates on either side. There are compelling arguments to be made for either case, and others for using no additives at all.
Personally, I use Power Service to help keep things clean and WallyWorld 2-cycle to help keep things lubricated, and call it good, for better or for worse.
I use Power Service as well, and have never had an issue. If you're concerned about moisture, just do the best you can to keep the tanks full and treat it with PS. I doubt you'll have an issue.
Mine sits for 2 weeks at a time all the time, then sits for months during the winter. I use powerservice or motorcraft additive and have never had a problem.
Mine sits for most of winter (stupid salt!). Even in the summer it'll go weeks w/o running. I've been using DieselKleen for about a year now. I have better cold starts, noticeably quieter injectors, and a little (maybe) better fuel economy.
I'm not sure which side of fence that puts me on, but the stuff is like $15 for 250 gal worth of treatment at Tractor Supply.
The power service really helped clean up my injectors when I first bought my truck. I guess it had sat for a while. I'd like to swear my diesel 911,(red bottle) but I think with compounding problems I have, I can't be too sure if it really does anything for me.
