Just wondering if my '98 Club Wagon with the V-10 has an external fuel filter? I haven't filled it up with gas since May, and it's not running very smooth (duh!), but it seems like after it warms up, if I push the gas just a little hard, it acts like it's starving for fuel. It's not throwing any codes, or else I'd think it was the TPS.
I'm going to fill it up with premium, and put in stabil, since it does sit quite a bit. I'm hoping that does the trick, but when I was underneath it changing the oil, I didn't see one anywhere.
Thanks,
John
Usually on the drivers side frame rail. Not positive on that year. You can't leave the newer ethanol blends sitting for extended periods like that. They are horrible about gumming up. Probably have a sticking injector. Put some miles on it and it should free up.
Probably not helpful given the difference in years but in my 89 E150 the fuel filter is on the drivers side frame rail as the previous poster said. It's fairly obvious and easy to see from the bottom if it is indeed in the same location on your E series.

Pre '92 the fuel filters were quite different and not easily serviced---they had to be replaced outright if/when clogged. Beginning in '92 fuel filters were a bit smaller, coupled to the system with quick connect fittings allowing for easy and less expensive renewals.
They are indeed mounted on the inside of the drivers side frame rail, just under that front seat.
Word of caution though---make sure to bleed off any residual pressure in the fuel system BEFORE attempting to remove the filter. There will be spillage so take appropriate steps to protect yourself and whatever surface you're working on.

Many newer vehicles have the fuel filter located inside the fuel tank(s).

That may--or, may not be the case here.
I've had a '97 E250, currently own both a 2000 and '03 E250, all with 5.4's and all had the external fuel filter mounted inside the frame rail just under the drivers seat.

OK. But OP has the 6.8 V10. The fuel system may or may not be set up differently.
Lots of variables with E-Series ... gas v. diesel v. CNG ... cutaway v. conventional van body etc.

What exactly is your problem dude----about the third time you've tromped in one of my replies without really adding to or contributing anything. If you've got an issue take it to PM OR add something the OP can use---not more WAG's that take up space without adding anything.
YES there are variables but as I read the OP he specifically mentions "gas"--most anyone with CNG would most likely make mention of that---its significant, they'd be aware of that and make it known.
And because "gas" was mentioned the assumption it was NOT diesel was made.
While cutaways might not have full bodies most of the running gear including fuel delivery system is remarkably similar to the full version.
