my daughter just totaled her 78 f-150 4x4 when replacing the body we used a 78 camper special f-250 it set about an inch higher that the other cab in relation to the bed. also the big thing was it weighs about 300-400 pounds more than the half ton cab. any ideas. daughter was fine thanks to the grace of God and f series
I don't think there were any major differences in cabs especially in the same year. Earlier cabs had a gas tank behind the seat..some earlier cabs didn't have shoulder belts. The factory AC would be a weight difference, but not 400 pounds...
yea I know the difference in the years but not the weight. it is,New on me . I have owned dozens of these trucks but this,is,New on me. I can account for about a hundred pounds difference. the new cab has, been zbart'ed and the side Windows are still in the new, cab. but this has,me stumped. I have heard that the trailer special has heavier metal in the supports but I cant confirmed.
Dimensionally speaking there is no physical difference in the cabs. One could be an air cab and one a non air cab. Not to mention, the truck is 38 years old. Cab mounts and floors may have been replaced and done incorrectly. Body bushings could be different. Lots of stuff comes in to play.
I'm super glad your daughter came out ok. That's the most important thing. Trucks can always be replaced.
I have owned the parts truck for over twenty years. it is original, my daughter truck had not had anything welded in.both are non ac cabs. it has me stumped. we used to own a junk yard that specialized in.79 and back Ford trucks this was in.the.late eighties early nineties. never ran into this then, but we did not have many campers specials. have heard that camper specialsIhad heavier radiator supports but don't kno
I have a stock camper special and a stock F-100. You have me curious now. I may have to go out there with a tape measure and a flashlight to see what I can see.
