I recently picked up a 97 f250 with 314k on it, had a boost leak when I bought it, noticed it was the compressor outlet o ring up against the intake was out of place, so I fixed that and the truck ran much better (obviously) and also after fixing the oring to my amazement the truck was shifting incredibly smooth now...
So I drove the truck to work the next couple days and it was doing great. 3rd day was colder then the rest, put on the high idle and sure enough it sounds like a tornado under my hood (leaking boost again)....
Today its pretty warm out, figured id go start the truck, put it on high idle and feel around the turbo to see where its leaking from. Sure enough, its not leaking today, I drove the truck around and I don't hear the leak I had before, however the transmission isn't shifting as smooth as it was, however its still doing fine, but that makes me believe there could still be a leak. I cannot hear one or feel one under the hood when high idle is on...
Any ideas on what this could be guys? id really like to start driving this truck everday but this issue is holding me back
Exhaust back pressure valve. It closes off the exhaust on the outlet side of the turbo to help warm up. Almost sound like a hissing sound when it closes.
Hmm sometimes under acceleration I would hear a "sealing" sound and the "boost leak" would go away for like 5 seconds then bam here comes the pshhhhhhhhh again

the sensor and tube may be plugged not allowing you to get a proper back pressure reading. You can unplug the ebpv. There is a wiring clips hat comes from the pedestal. Unplug it and see f it comes back

So if I unplug it the boost leak sound should come back?
If the sound does come back, how do I go about fixing this issue?
