Yes they are!!! Thanks for locating those bolts!! I could not locate them to save my life!
So I removed the timing gear cover and to my surprise the timing gear that I thought was going to be chewed up was not. It actually is in pretty good shape and the timing marks lined up!!!!
PLEASE if anyone out there has any experience with these kindly let me know if my thought process is correct.
When the timing marks are lined, pistion number one should also be at top dead center and the dizzy pointed at the #1 piston??

There has to be a separate key for the crank timing gear, or it would spin. Did you remove the crank timing gear, or pull it forward? I too was surprised to not see it, because the slinger should be engaging it. The damper likely has a separate key at a different location (out of sight in the pic).

As far as I know the key on connected to the Harmonic balance.
As it was pulled off the key was attached to it.
Is is it a separate part?? Should of it stayed in and the H. balance should have come off on its own??
I will post a pic of it today.

Like what??? When you take the balancer off there should be
like a half moon key to hold it from slipping. Maybe a square
key. IDK for sure. Than the same key or another to hold the
crank gear. This I am pretty sure would be a half moon woodruff
key. They can and do shear off flush with the crank and can be
hard to see. If any of these keys are sheared than the gear or
Harmonic will slip. Is there a problem here with this or not?
Yes more pic's may help but only if we can see what we need
to see. It's cool to help over the net like this but we can't see
what you see. And sometimes pics just don,t show enough.

After rereading your post several times are you saying the
key came off with the harmonic? I don't think that is right
unless it is sheared. Are we communicating at all here?

But I think we may be on to something here. This is a simple engine
so it should be simple to see what is wrong and fix it.

I now understand, I can only see 1 key and that is the key that the balancer locks into. I cannot see the key that the crank gear sits on or locks into.
When I put a wrench and turn the crank all the gears do move. It does not look like the gear on the crank is slipping? Any other way for me to check if it is? I will post more pics tonight or tomorrow morning. My computer is acting up at the moment.

I think I'd get a puller and pull the crank gear, so you know whether there is a key for the crank gear. With the pulley on and the bolt tight, the gear might not slip all the time, but it only needs to do it once. You might be able to look in the groove and see that it's there, it's not a real long key so maybe it just sits inside the gear.

Idahoal: I will check the tooth on the Dizzy later today. I just had it rebuilt and tested by Bubba's. Hey but you never know maybe it lost a tooth. Thanks for your help!
Albuq f-1: I will see if I can have my buddy come over with his puller just to confirm that those keys are there. I also think that they sit inside of the gear but its better to be 100% sure.
