top radiator hose
I just bought my 88 F150, 5.0/C6 and the top rad hose collapses when the engine cools off. It does not pull any coolant from the overflow either. I replaced the rad cap and still no change, I think the thermostat may be stuck open as the engine runs very cool. I plan on doing a cooling system flush soon and will throw another thermostat in it then, any other ideas as to what might be causing this? I am a truck and transport mechanic and have done all the usual checks, maybe I am missing the obvious?

Old hoses will often collapse either on cool down or more troublesome, during high RPM which then causes over heating .
Either the spring that is in some hoses is worn out and needs replacing or the hose is old and needs replacing.
