I have had my truck in the local ford shop because the fluid was a little bit burnt smelling, I had a flush done to it and then afterwards I noticed first gear started hesistating and then would go to second, when it warm it doesn't have any issues, shifts normal, but when cold or starting off even with running in the morning before going to work its still does that, I would like to find out before it starts becoming a serious problem....

Hi priorityautorepair,
Did you return to your dealership and bring this to their attention? What's the Escape's model year and mileage? I'll see what I can do to assist.

Hi Crystal,
It's a 2002 XLT AWD approx. 166,607 miles, I called the local dealership and prosisted to want to charge me a diag fee, there is no faults on the transmission and I have a code reader to check for codes, I am wondering if when I had the flush completed that it could be the filter. If any other info is requested please let me know,
The filter in a CD4e is only serviced when the unit is rebuilt.
Most likely, the transmission was already toasted before you took it in since you said the fluid smelled burned, so the flush wasn't going to do anything useful.

projectSHO89,
Ok, I plan to have it rebuilt then here next year, I want to get the rest of the milage out of it, I will have the fluid flushed around every 10 to 20 thousand miles, to extend the life out since the filter is not serviceable.

Hi James,
I'm not a technician, so I'm not the greatest resource for mechanical questions. I recommend continuing to work with your dealership as they'll be in the best position to assist.
