I tried that first.

Even cold, the PMGR starters are just absolute beasts compared to the OEM units. That 30 bucks is much better spent towards a better starter.

I've ran a stock starter in my 80 with 9.25 compression for years with nary an issue. If you are heat soaking starters look at why they are getting heat soaked. Sure reduction starters are more powerful but also 2x the cost.

A brand "new" parts store direct drive starter for my truck is about $65 plus tax.

A brand new PMGR starter from DB Electrical is $54 to my door.

Mines been a good starter. It's got a date of 7-8-00 on it. So if that's true when it was probably reman'd. It's got about 80,000 miles on it. I've sure cranked the guts out of it in the time I've had it. When it gives me trouble I'll go to the PMGR. I have headers and never have had a heat soak problem.

$49.20 (automatic) and free shipping, it's hard to beat.
Unless you need it "right now!"
