had shifting problems changed fluid and screen drove 15miles seemed to shift better switched off . when restarted a couple hrs later started off fine but after a couple hundred yards it started slipping. shut down let cool same thing repeat will pull in reverse but nothing in 1,2,or3 after it stops
take your valve dody out and clean it. there isn't much that can go wrong a far as breaking or wearing out in it but it can be jammed up with dirt or slugg.
Need more info....how many miles etc...a little history.
Trust me, it's not the valve body.
Quite often, on high mileage vehicles, the forward clutch inner rubber "o" ring has shrunk up or gotten hard.
1986 f350 diesel 60,000 miles since i got it no idea of total or if ever rebuilt. it works fine after it sits for awhile will take off without sliping but only will go less than a 1/4 mile ,cool off and will go again after it stops it will still back up but doesnt try to go foward, was working fine (no sliping) untill i changed fluid and screen. only it was shifting irratically. I have a lot of mech. experence but not much with ats but i have rebuilt 2 or 3 and i dont believe the clutch packs are shot
Puzzling..... If the only thing you did was change the filter. i'm guessing you either put a long bolt where a short one goes or maybe overtorqued the bolts. It takes a lot of ummph to get the bolts out but there only like 12 foot lbs torque going back in, which isn't much. Aluminum valve bodies are sensitive that way. It's tuff you know diagnosing from this far away from the vehicle, wish i could tell you more
either one is possible 2 questions only one bolt is longer can you give a location for it. and i drove it about 15 miles 1st 3 thru town stop and go traffic and it worked fine . backed up to an empty 2axle trailer and then took off only to go a very short dist.
