Hey first time post, i have a 90' 351 v8 f-150, about a month ago i had the alternator and battery replaced due to the fact the alt got burned to a crisp inside. however once i replaced it ive had issues with the idle of the truck. on startup it revs high before nearly stalling out and slowly catching itself, and when put into gear it idles higher than normal. i think its either the IAC or TPS but id like someone else's views before i go replacing everything i can think of. its not a major problem now as i dont drive much but its affecting power and it seems to accelerate faster than normal. thanks for any input and sorry for the long post
The engine is 100% computer controlled therefore it is highly suggested you check for codes. Run the Key On Engine Off tests and Continuous Memory (stored codes) display.
Thanks, I'll check codes when i can, i dont have access to a tester right now tho. the thread you posted is similar tho the issue is reversed, all my problems are when the engine is cold, and tend to go away when it warms up, but shifting in and out of park/neutral still will affect the idle speed alot. About a year ago i did replace the TPS because of major revving issues, but not the same type as this time around, could it be going out again?

I guess it could be different on yours but I just, checked codes on mine. Its a 93. All u need is a paper clip and pen and paper to write down how many times the CEL flashes. There is a sticky at the top of the forum on how to check codes. Let me know if u need help as I just did this recently and I was confused for a while but its not hard if u know what u are doing
