Hey, heres my story, skip to the next paragraph if you just want the actual problem.
I got a 1998 Ford Ranger after my 1985 Silverado that my grandfather gave me died on I-70. Had to spend all the money saved up on it. I dont need much anyway other than gas and my Ranger is a 4-cyl so thats ok. Im a smart kid, but I dont know my way around a car completely, all the electrical stuff eludes me but other than that I can understand anything you say.
Heres the problem, I put a new stereo in the Silverado and took it out after it died, I had it installed by Bestbuy, so I dont know what went on. Anyway, taking it out was easy, but now I cant get it into the Ranger because OF THE WIRING HARNESS.
I can get all other plugins out, I have it hanging out with all screws removed, but I cannot get it out, I have searched everywhere for info on a release of some kind or other screw or wedge but to no avail. Does ANYONE know how I can solve this?
No it will not just pull out.
I'm kind of confused by your post. Are you using the same wiring harness that you used on the Silverado? You need different a different harness for the Ranger (go to Walmart for this). Also, you (might) need a mounting kit (from Circuit City, Best Buy, some Walmart's) to mount the HU flush with the rest of the console. If I didn't answer your question, sorry. I'm kind of confused as to the wording of your question.
OR
Is the head unit still in the Silverado? Where is the head unit now (silverado or Ranger) and is the wiring harness all that's connected? If the wiring "harness" along with the head unit is still in the Silverado, and you can't get it out, there might not be a "harness", the wires may have been soldered...again, repost the question with more detailed terms.
The HU is out of the silverado in my house, I have already bought a Ford Wiring Harness Adaptor, and rewired, the HU all that is need to do is remove the Factory HU from the stereo. I have found two screws that I didnt see before and am going to try and remove them. (You think: what a retard, but these screws are small a torx head 5!) I cant get a screwdriver that size until Monday so we'll see what happens.
