Has anyone tried this product? I was sanding a tailgate and it has some surface rust on it. I sanded the rust away as much as i could but there are still some small spots in it. Will this stuff (or anything else) prevent the rust from spreading? Or is there a better solution for me problem.
Thanks
David
i second the por-15 idea. stuff is incredible and as long as the directions for prep are followed to a t then you will have trouble removing it even with a jackhammer
oh WEAR GLOVES! the stuff actually has to wear off naturally. there is no washing this stuff off
So how long has it been since you guys put it on your trucks? I assume the still hasnt returned? After sanding is there somthing else i can do to remove more of this rust ? like would a wire brush on a drill work?
Thanks guys
David

Sounds like you are looking for a rust treatment, not a paint. If that's the case, use Metal Ready (by the Por15 people), Picklex20, Rust Mort or something similiar. It will treat the metal and do rust conversion on the micro-rust.
For paint, Por-15 paint does work but personally, I would go with Zero Rust. It's a lot more convenient Por-15 and it comes in rattle cans.
my bronco was done about 4 years ago and still no sign of it returning. the kit i got had the metal ready/ a cleaner degreaser/ then a coat of paint if i remember right. you can brush the stuff on and when it dries it looks like it was sprayed on. (again as long as the directions were followed and no short cuts were taken
I wonder if anyone has tried or knows about Krylon, Rust Tough, rust fix, converting primer? It comes in rattle cans. Its waterproof and goes on clear so I covered over it with a sandable primer just to even out the repair. My plan is the same as Davids, to stop the surface rust from getting any worse, while doing as Aekisu did and fix a section at a time. I have just started so its not to late for me to change directions and do something else. It seemed to work well, but after reading about paint compatibility problems and the weakest link thing about stuff staying on, I thought I better ask, I'm just winging it.
