Hard starts

I am pretty familiar with the 7.3 have had 5 or so of them. My 99 is having hard starts and its NOT glow plug related and its got good battery's and starter and all that. Can the injectors with lots of wear cause hard starts? Truck has 390k miles and its using a gallon of oil about every 500 miles. The oil is going into fuel system from injector orings I think. What kinda icp value should I get while cranking. Could it just be taking a while to build icp pressure. The problem is worse when cold but still happens with warm engine

The PCM won't send a fuel delivery command signal until ICP reaches 500 psi and RPMs are at least 100.

Worn injectors definitely cause hard starts, which mimic that of a problem in the glow plug system. Worn poppet valves and cold thick oil do not like each other.

Are those original injectors with 390K on them?!
