Does The F-150's Fake Engine Noise Bother You?

Here are the torque curves of the EcoBoost vs. 6.2L V8.
That's right, the EcoBoost pulls harder at all points below 4,000 RPMs. Meaning the 6.2L would be downshifting more often.

Just seems like the EcoBoost engines under a heavy load will be more winded than a V8 and would be downshifting more often. Its just a kiddish thing to fake an engine sound. Its funny Ford dumped a ton of money into a new engine line up and only work on a few engines they think are a honey hole and neglect any updates for a V8. Have they even done a single update on the 5.0L since 2011 for power upgrades or fuel economy? Way too many chips in the EcoBoost pile.
I would guess Ford is working on the 5.0, both power and torque are up for 2015. There has also been mumbling around the web of a direct injected 5.0.
Check the used car lots or on-line ads. There are a lot of high mileage EcoBoost F150's around. Recently I saw one that had over 400,000 miles.

I see your point. I don't know about some but I would not want to have an engine revving over 4000 for very long but that's just me. I hate having my 5.4L over 2000 because I might as well have a hole in the fuel line at that point.
I have test drove EcoBoost F150s before as well as the 3.7L and 5.0L. Never felt really any difference of course I wasn't trying to drive like a bat out of hell either.
I just think the 2.7L fake engine sound is very dumb. My R/C truck I have has an option to have a 900hp sound added in to make it sound like a real short course truck
something like these trucks.
At any rate, I'm still on the fence about EcoBoost. I mean it kind of hurts to know its going to be an option on a Mustang. I'd rather just get a supercharged Mustang at that point even though the fuel economy will suck, something about a supercharged v8 growl is really appealing to me.

The only complaint I ever had with my 2011 F-150 SC with EB was that it sounded like a Camry! Great truck and I'm in love with the EB. I pull a 4500# boat and 6500# camp trailer and the EB handles both effortlessly. At about 30,000 miles it started a distinct whirring noise on acceleration. Pretty sure it was the turbos winding up and reminded me of an over-revved Singer sewing machine!
Just picked up my 2015 and I like the fake engine noise. Its not overbearing and those of you who know what the EB actually sounds like will notice, but I don't think others will. For me Ford fixed my only complaint about the EB with the fake noise.

Have you driven the new 3.5 truck? I really don't see what the big deal is. IMHO, a bunch of concern about nothing. There are plenty of other real reasons not to buy the ECO trucks to be concerned with.
So I guess in other words, obviously the sound does not bother me! Nor does the reason they put it in the truck.
